There are many quotes about making a difference when it comes to mental health.  Each unique quote might mean something different to us all.  No matter how personally connected one may feel about a particular one  – all are special and important to share.  The top 10 motivational quotes that are making the most difference in people’s lives today:

#1 We rise by lifting others

By lifting others in times of need, we can all make an impact on mental health. Sometimes one of the biggest challenges we feel is that we have to face it alone. You are not alone. Millions of people all over the world in all walks of life are there with you. We need to band together and lift each other up.

#2 Being Weak is a Choice, So is Being STRONG.

For those who have battled first hand with mental illness, and for those who have helped loved ones with their own battles – sometimes all you need is strength. When all hope seems to be lost and you feel defeated and weak – it is important to remember what brought you here today. It was strength that got you here, not weakness.  If weakness is a choice – so is being strong. Choose with pride.

#3 The World Owes you NOTHING

A common belief shared by many is that the world must owe you something for being you. Whether it is payment for a hardship, or possibly a reward for merit: NEWS FLASH: THE WORLD OWES YOU NOTHING. Get out there and make life happen. Don’t expect anything in return.  Only then can you truly be successful.

#4 Enjoy the little things in Life, For Someday you will realize they were the Big Things.

No one knows when their time is up. It could be tomorrow – or maybe in 75 years. Don’t rush through life without taking a pause once in a while to take it all in. After all, this could be what life is all about – The little things.

#5 Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.

How very true this is. No matter how many people support you, the catalyst for change can be found right inside you. You must first believe in yourself before you can truly make a change. No one can make the change for you if you don’t believe it yourself. Once you decide to change your life – everything else will follow.

#6 It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up!

There will no doubt be bad days. This is true for anyone in any given situation, however it can be magnified by anyone who is effected by mental illness.  There will be bad days. Don’t focus on the bad days – focus on the good ones. It’s normal for life to knock us down – it’s nature. What sets us aside from one another is our drive to get back up. Get up, and keep going.

#7 Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication

Sometimes life can just get way too complicated. Reduce stress by simplifying all aspects of your life and focus on what is most important to you. By simplifying it allows you to put more focus on what really matters. Simplicity in itself can really be the ultimate form of sophistication.  Cut out negative people, spend your time with people who lift you up, and work hard towards something that is important to you.

#8 Do something today that your future self will thank you for

Easier said than done. What does this mean exactly? You have 2 choices in life: you can either “survive” or “thrive”. Make the choices today that your future self will thank you for. You can’t move a mountain overnight – but over time, it all becomes within reach. Make it possible. It can all start with one choice you make today.  Go to the gym, take that class, write that article. Your future self will thank you for it.

#9 A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.

Sometimes the fear of making a mistake is worse than actually making the mistake itself. When it comes to mental health, the punishment of trying something and making a mistake could be a far greater reward than not trying it at all.  Go ahead, make mistakes. Try something new – you might like it.

#10 It always seems impossible until it’s done.

Improvement may seem impossible at times when struggling with mental health. Every day has its moment, where life might just surprise you. Just think – every great invention today at one time was thought of to be impossible. It’s only impossible if you refuse to believe you can accomplish it. Impossible things happen each and everyday. You can help make it all possible. It starts with you.
