#We Too…. The Trauma Brain Project is a unique theatrical narrative that brings together three powerful communities — the Theater world, the practice of Body-Centered Therapy and the Neurology/Medical fields — in a joint effort to raise awareness, break the silence and give voice to the often voiceless women and girls who are dealing with the hidden effects of trauma and mental health consequences.
“The Trauma Brain Project is more than a powerful performance, Ms. Hunt brings the audience in to bear witness as she navigates a lifetime of coping with mismanagement, misdiagnosis, misunderstanding. The project should be mandatory viewing for medical students before they’ve developed judgement and bad habits about addressing the health implications of psychiatric co-morbidities.
As an epileptologist, psychiatric co-morbidites in patients with both epileptic and non-epileptic seizures represent a therapeutic conundrum and doctors, generally speaking, are uncomfortable addressing the antecedent events that could lead to physical manifestations of psychological disease.
She presents her courageous path to healing by sharing her internal dialogue and experiences; as a clinician, hearing the patient is the most important thing I can do. She has created a cathartic program that needs to become part of the conversation not only in healthcare, but in society as a whole. I hope that more and more trauma healing can become part of the dialogue we share collectively to heal.
-The Trauma Brain Project is a catalyst for change. “
