This presentation, with Deborah Majors, PhD, LCSW, will highlight the latest confirmed suicide data from the CDC, identify risks and protective factors, point out frequent misconceptions about suicide, and what we understand about why people end their lives. There will also be a discussion about what makes the experience of suicide loss feel so different for those left behind, with a focus on frequently observed thoughts and feelings of grievers. Lastly, we will look at adaptive resolution of this traumatic life event and the role played by one LOSS Program of Catholic Charities.
