NAMI Reads

The purpose of the NAMIReads is to partner with libraries to promote discussions about mental health.

This Public Education program invites the patrons of individual community libraries and local individuals to engage in informed non-stigmatized guided discussions about mental illness with a particular author or professional on various topics.

One out of four people have been touched in their lives by mental illness, yet cultural taboo and stigma have left most Americans unaware, under-educated, and unprepared to deal with family, friends and peers who display symptoms. Evidence based research has shown that people do better when they reach out to NAMI and other professional organizations for information, education, and support.
