NAMI CCNS | Executive Director Nancy Carstedt Announces Retirement

NAMI Cook County North Suburban announces that Nancy Carstedt, who has served as Executive Director since 2011, is retiring effective April 1, 2018.

During the past six and a half years under Carstedt’s leadership, NAMI Cook County North Suburban has grown from a mostly volunteer organization into a professional organization with an operational budget which had grown six-fold. Last year alone NAMI CCNS had over 1,695,000 touches through education and support programs, warm line calls, advocacy and social media. Board President Patricia Rodbro said, “We thank Nancy for her dedication and leadership during her tenure and wish her the best going forward. Please join us in welcoming Nancy as our Executive Director Emeritus.“

You will continue to see Nancy as she will retain a role going forward as Director, External Affairs, focusing on NAMI Cook County North Suburban relationships in the 17 communities we serve. While in that capacity she will also be available to assist in the transition.

The search for her replacement will be led by Gregg Sackrider, Board Treasurer. Questions should be referred to Patricia Rodbro, Board President.

Nancy, It has been delightful working with you on efforts to improve the lives of those living with mental illness and all those who love them. HAPPY RETIREMENT!

After watching firsthand the amazing, transformative work you did with Chicago Children’s Choir between 1990 and the early ’00s, but having been unaware of the scope of your subsequent work, I’m quite impressed to read about what you accomplished during your tenure with NAMI CCNS–but surprised in the least. CCC was fortunate to have you, and clearly NAMI CCNS has been, as well. All the best in your retirement–if you can actually manage to stay retired!
